Have you ever heard of Lipospheric Vitamin C?

Dr. Glant and his family have been using Lipospheric Vitamin C for over 8 years now. Most of his generation grew up hearing about Linus Pauling and his Nobel Prizes (2) for his work on Vitamin C. We all think about needing to eat and maybe take it as a pill or a drink. However, many do not know that Vitamin C is hard to absorb and all primates do not make Vitamin C, and therefore have to eat it in the diet. All other non-primate animals (except Guinea pigs) make Vitamin C and lots of it. In fact it is elevated dramatically in disease, especially inflammatory conditions. It fuels your inflammatory cells and is a major factor in collagen production, so it speeds up healing. As a major antioxidant, Vitamin C is critical to many of our systems of healing and repair. No matter what you do, it is very hard to absorb more than 1-2 grams of Vitamin C a day and that is accomplished by taking over a half a gram four times a day. Such a dose often causes loose stools, such that it become very challenging to take this much.

However, lipospheric Vitamin C is constructed differently and allows you to take much more, as efficiently as taking it intravenously. The Liv-On Laboratories product shown above is the “gold standard” and was invented by a fellow who had myocarditis and was unable to find a heart transplant. He was started on IV Vitamin C which in months got him off the transplant list, however, the physician wanted him to remain on high dose Vitamin C for at least another year. In the 1970’s Lipospheric Encapsulation Technology (LET) was discovered and it is now seen in a variety of skin lotions and skin patch delivery systems. This approach was used for Vitamin C and it work very well. In fact, you can made a very effective, although not as stable as the commercial types, version cheaply at home (about $0.20 a gram dose). The Liv-On product is a little more than $1 a gram dose and is soy lecithin based as a thick liquid in a packet. Dr. Glant and family started on this brand but are also using another commercial brand that is sunflower lecithin based, by CoreMed, which is about $0.60 a gram and is in liquid-gel capsules which are large like CoQ10 capsules.

Since we have used this form of easily absorbed Vitamin C, the number, duration and severity of colds and other viral illnesses has dropped significantly. This was dramatic in our grandsons who were having tonsillar, ear and sinus infections, which have ceased. Dr. Glant recommends that everyone consider taking a gram of this type of Vitamin C daily. This is increased to 2-3 grams a day with an illness or surgery. Typically an illness fades quickly in a day or two and the dose can be returned to a gram a day. My daughter and family make the homemade version, which requires an ultrasonic cleaner. It has to be refrigerated and lasts for a couple weeks before breaking down, so commercial brands are much more convenient for traveling. This Vitamin C after surgery will cut healing time in half and Dr. Glant has seen several with TMJ (temporomandibular joint) pain have resolution after other treatments failed. Many do not realize that Vitamin C is the preferred energy source of you white blood cells! Most are on the edge of Vitamin C deficiency, so it is easy get in trouble because of a lack of this vital anti-oxidant that facilitates healing.
